Boat Review: Bluewater Mirage
By: Trey Carskadon

Bluewater Boats is one of those unique small companies that's doing big things
quietly.
Bluewater is no "Johnny come lately", they've been around for awhile
and have established themselves as one of the pre-eminent boat builders
in the West. Their reputation is sterling having earned their place in
the market by doing things right
over and over again.
The Mirage by Bluewater is a reflection of their commitment to product excellence
and their customers. Versatile, roomy, well-designed for the application
and brimming with value, Bluewater will never have to apologize for any
element of this tournament ski style boat.
Capable of achieving speeds over 50 mph with the standard V8 package, this
boat flies across the water and planes instantly. Skiers will embrace
the quick planing characteristics of this hull as well as the ideal wake
the boat lays out. The unconventional bottom vee delivers a surprisingly
soft ride that's often forgotten in traditional tournament designs.
A generous 20'4" in length with a beam of nearly 90" there's no shortage
of space inside the Mirage. Married to a "Sport Interior" layout,
with Captains chairs for the driver and a forward passenger and a full
width bench seat with storage to aft, you'll be living in the lap of luxury
with plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy the day.
Some intriguing design standards have been incorporated into the Mirage making
it even more attractive.
The enormous rear sundeck is a great place to relax and dry off after a bristling
ski run. This sundeck also locks which is a unique feature of this boat.
The sidewall design makes entering and exiting the boat at dockside considerably
easier. A full width swim platform spans the rear of the boat and sits
at water level, which eliminates the need for an obtrusive ski ladder
and makes getting in and out of the water a pleasure.
Unlike traditional tournament-style ski boats, the Mirage is a sterndrive powered
ski machine. This gives the owner the benefit of easy service just about
anywhere they go as opposed to the specialized service needs of most tournament-style
boats. Still, you'll find the power to be direct and impressive from the
moment you advance the throttle and push the boat onto plane
there
are no compromises with this engine package.
A tried and true ski boat you'll find all the appropriate gear like a stout
ski pylon, underfloor ski storage big enough for skis and gear, and full
swivel seats for easy spotting when you're towing a skier.
The bow area's appointed with comfortable seating and storage, a welcome addition
if family and friends meet you at the dock.
Beyond impressive design and equally noteworthy standard features is how Bluewater
stands behind their products. Covered by a lifetime deck, transom and
stringer warranty, Bluewater goes the extra distance in backing their
customer's ownership experience with a warranty that assures their long-term
satisfaction.
The Mirage by Bluewater, one ride and you'll know you've found the boat of
your dreams.
